Internet & Working From Home!
Internet is provided through Telstra mobile - unfortunately the NBN decided not to lay submarine cables to Mackerel. However, it generally works well and I have been able to have Zoom meetings from Mackerel.
Internet
The internet is Telstra Mobile through a dongle. Unfortunately, the NBN decided not to lay cable to Mackerel – however the dongle serves most purposes and you can do Zoom or Team Meetings on it. The mobile station is at Palm beach and provides a good signal, during thunderstorms it may be a bit erratic – but hey just enjoy the thunderstorm! During the busy Summer months we have noticed that the bandwidth coming from the station at Palm beach can be a little unreliable.
Working from Home
If anyone needs to work from home the boatshed is the best place for it! When working from home I either hotspot my work phone for internet in the boat shed or bring the dongle down from the main house.
The dongle doesn’t like staying on the charger all the time and so from time to time you may need to unplug it when it is at 100% charged.
